How to Install Merkuro


Merkuro is a Java program; it needs the Java Runtime Environment in order to run. Java is usually pre-installed in modern systems. Linux users might have to install it. (How to Install - Linux.)

Merkuro was tested under Windows XP, Mac OS X, and Linux (Ubunto), with Java version 6. It may work with previous versions of Java, but this has not been tested. Please try.

The most up-to-date version of Java for Windows, Solaris, and Linux can be found at Mac OS X users can update their systems with the System Update command.

The Installer

Merkuro's installation program is InstaluMer.jar. Click on this link to download it to your computer. Next, activate the installer with a double mouse-click. The dialogue shown below will appear.

At the top is a pull-down menu for selecting the language. At present, the installer supports only English and Esperanto, but the programmer is willing add other languages, if he receives a translation. (Refer to: Please translate.)

The installer suggests a suitable installation folder, but you can change this by clicking on the Dir button.

Click on OK to start the installation. The program will unpack files into the indicated folder, put a symbolic link on the desktoop, and automatically close when it finishes.
