"Welcome to the official website of
the Jupiter Quartet Japan!"

-"They are one of the most talented young ensembles I've heard in the recent time. All of their members are excellent musicians, with enormous motivation and intelligence. They could become a majour international quartet!"

Gabor Takacs=Nagy, founder of Takacs Quartet, professor of Conservatoire de musique de Geneve

-I am convinced that these four members of the Jupiter String Quartet will be musicians representing Japan. I am crazy about their music talents and good characters.

About us

The Jupiter Quartet Japan was founded by students of Toho school of music in 2004.

Since the onset, they have actively sought opportunities for performing in concerts and participating master classes and music festivals across the country. In Feburuary 2005, they took part in the Chamber Music Seminor in Toyama and took lessons with the Tokyo String Quartet. In May, they appeared in the Toho Chamber Music Concert and the Lunch Concert at JT art hall, known for providing opportunities for young prospective classical musicians. They also played in the Choufu Music Fetival in June and held a concert in Mashiko. Since then, they have been invited to perform annually in Mashiko.

In February 2006, they performed Schuman pieces at Kioi Hall in Tokyo. In November, they played at JT Hall produced by Koichiro Harada, followed by music concert produced by Japan Brahms Society. In February 2007, they once again appeared in a concert at JT Hall. They also performed in Utsunomiya. In the Summer of 2007, the Tokyo String Quartet invited them to the Norfolk Chamber Music Festivalin the US, the Yale University Summer School of Music. Their performance at "Young Artist Recital" series was well-received.
They have taken lessons and advices from various artists including Koichiro Harada, Sadao Harada, Richard Young and Nobuko Imai as well as quartets such as the Juilliard String Quartet, the Tokyo String Qurtet and the Shanghai Quartet through participation to master classes. Since Septemter 2007, they have started taking lessons with Gabor Takacs=Nagy, founder of Takacs Quartetat and professer of the Conservatoire de musique de Geneve, enabling them for more exposure and opportunitiesin Europe. At the same time, they will keep up with tight performance schedule cross their native Japan.

Each member of the Jupiter String Quartet is a solist in his/her own right, pursuing solo career along with their Quartet life.
